The Indonesian culture is very distinctive and produces some of the most amazing art. One that is recognized by the UN as being uniquely Indonesian is of course Batik. Batik is a form of painting on fabric using wax. Batik is very versatile as it can be used in many ways from dresses to pillow cases to formal skirts. Each area has its own Batik with different characteristics and meanings. For example, a typical Batik from Cirebon is a stylized painting of clouds in bright colours, while Batik from NTT or East Nusa Tenggara consists of bright and intricate patterns.

Our groom this time goes by the name of Halilintar and comes from NTT. In his wedding with Aveline, he requested Batik from NTT to be incorporated into the décor. Therefore, we placed Batik on the registration tables, photo gallery, and bridal stage. The colour scheme of this wedding is off-white and peach, which complement the Batik well because they let the Batik to stand out.

The wedding took place in Shangrila Hotel, Jakarta. Aveline asked for a tent to be put up outdoors to add more space as well as to protect guests from the rain. The overall theme of the wedding is actually white rustic mixed with classical furniture, and of course Batik. The end result is a one-of-a-kind eclectic wedding that is chic and modern, yet traditional.

We were excited to decorate Halilintar and Aveline’s wedding because we were able to use Indonesian elements.  We don’t see that too often as most couples request European themes. Indonesia has many tribes and each brings something different to the table. There are so many things which can be utilized in weddings, and it will show how proud the bride and groom are to be Indonesian.
