Chic. The word has been interpreted in so many different ways. But in the design world, chic means elegant, fashionable and trendy. The word “chic” has French origins, but it can be used to describe any still – not only French – that is updated and modern. It can also mean “one of a kind”.
Now, lately, we’ve been getting a lot of requests for “shabby chic” style. Let’s take a look at what that means, for a minute, shall we? The word “shabby” in “shabby chic” actually talks about pieces of furniture that is timeworn or have stood the test of time. It talks about faded hues and distressed fabric, and it is in our opinion, one of the prettiest decorating styles there is.
So, we were very happy when Edwin and Stephanie came to us with a “chic” theme in mind. We took out the “shabby” except for the photo booth, where we have the vintage ornaments, and turned the Indonesia Room at the Shangri-la into one chic space.
Chic. That’s just how we like it!
