“Summer lovin’ had me a blast” is a lyric sung by John Travolta’s character in the movie Grease. Summer is indeed a wonderful time of the year for love or for a wedding. You can have a colourful summer themed party for your wedding.

Neelam and Roshan had a pool party at Raffles Hotel for the first day of their celebration. They had a brunch followed by Mehendi ceremony. Mehndi is also called henna, which is a paste made into designs on hands, palms, and feet. The guests were able to lounge under the pergola decorated with yellow and red pillows. To cool off, everyone could jump into the pool for a swim or a lazy ride on one of the swan floaties.

Their Ghari night was held at Sadhu Vaswani Center. This is the night before the wedding and this is a religious ceremony. The couple chose a festive elegant theme with red, pink, white, and gold. The place is decorated like a ball with a lit up stage and fancy dining setting. The atmosphere we were aiming for is fit for a sacred ceremony that the gods would be pleased also.

Lastly, we decorated the wedding ceremony and dinner, which was held at the Shangrila Hotel. The wedding ceremony is performed by the priest. According to tradition, the bride and groom are seated in front of the holy fire, and then walk around the fire seven times by exchanging vows. The ceremony had a rustic theme with pastel colours. There are the usual wooden elements that come with the rustic theme. We used soft coloured flowers to sweeten the mood.

In Hindu culture, all ceremonies are started only by the blessings of Lord Ganesha. Well we hope that Neelam and Roshan’s union is blessed forever.
